Biotech R&D Lab Space Available Through the UConn TIP Program

New biotech R&D lab space will be available in 2009 at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington as part of the University of Connecticut's Technology Incubation Program (TIP).

The TIP aims to accelerate the successful establishment and development of entrepreneurial companies by providing laboratory/office space and an array of support resources and services that are available through the various departments and functions at the university. With locations in Storrs, Farmington and Avery Point (Groton), the TIP helps start-ups pursuing commercialization in a variety of technology areas, such as nanotechnology, bioscience, and energy.

TIP offerings typically include:

• Library and computer network
• Student employees and interns
• Access to specialized equipment and instrumentation
• Connections to researchers and scientists
• Business support services and mentoring
• Environmental health and safety support (training and waste removal)
• Animal facilities (with faculty collaborators)
• Biotechnology/Bioservices Center
• Large, fully equipped conference room
• Small meeting rooms
• Student support (clerical, IT)
• Copier/fax services
