General Information
NovaTract is a venture-backed start-up company founded to develop new, innovative laparoscopic medical devices for minimally invasive surgery. Our initial product addresses the need to reduce the number of incisions necessary to perform minimally invasive surgery; therefore, leading to less pain and scarring, and less risk of infection, adhesion or hernias in the abdomen wall, resulting in shorter recovery times.

NovaTract’s devices are developed based on the research and expertise of world-class surgeon, Dr. Kurt E. Roberts, Assistant Professor of General Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. NovaTract is initially focusing on an internal organ retraction device for use in abdominal surgery; most commonly the removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomies) and appendix (appendectomies); two markets where laparoscopic surgery with 3-4 incisions is currently the gold standard of care. NovaTract's devices will allow general laparoscopic surgeons worldwide to practice Dr. Roberts’ innovative technique using fewer incisions.

NovaTract was incorporated in April 2010 by its founders: Eleanor L. Tandler, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Roberts. The Company expects its first retraction device to be ready for market in the second half of 2012.
