Exciting Agenda Has Been Posted - Check It Out!
The Symposium on U.S.-China Life
Science Industry Collaborations is designed to introduce biotech
and pharma companies to the opportunities afforded for research and
development and commercialization
partnering by China.
Multinational pharma companies started their China strategy in the
70s, and now have established significant manufacturing, R&D,
and commercialization capabilities. Their confidence in
China is highlighted by GlaxoSmithKline’s decision to move its
global neuroscience R&D center to Shanghai. Smaller and
early stage biotech companies have heard about the opportunities
provided by Chinese CROs and CMOs, and are feeling the necessity
to correctly utilize the resources in China to remain competitive.
China’s robust market growth, improved R&D and outsourcing
capabilities, and pipeline of novel molecules open the doors
to strategic partnerships.
This one day meeting is an opportunity to get an overview of the
Chinese industry landscape, hear case studies on successful
relationships that have been established and get some early ideas
on how to go about setting up a strategic relationship with a
Chinese company.

“Partnering has become a significant component of
China’s burgeoning biopharma industry. The number
of partnering deals grew by 41% in 2009, with
co-development deals the fastest growing segment.
This has been driven by China’s robust pipeline of over
2,000 novel molecules with nearly 200 in clinical
development.”
