Keynote Address by Uwe Reinhardt, Ph.D.
"Health Care Reform and Its Impact on Biopharma Innovation"

Noted health care economist Professor Uwe Reinhardt will speak at the CURE Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, beginning at 4 pm, in the Presidents Room at Woolsey Hall, Yale University. Dr. Reinhardt is the James Madison Professor of Political Economy and Professor of Economics at Princeton University. 

A frequent guest of the PBS News Hour, CNN, National Public Radio and other media outlets, Professor Reinhardt and has written extensively on healthcare economics and reform for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and other publications. Dr. Reinhardt’s keynote address at the CURE meeting will focus on the impact of various health care reform scenarios on biopharma innovation.

Given Dr. Reinhardt’s health care expertise and the timeliness of the subject of his address, CURE expects much press and public interest. Following Professor Reinhardt’s remarks, CURE will present the CURE Award for Excellence and the CURE Atlas Award for Venture Capital Achievement to this year's winners, selected from among Connecticut organizations and individuals. 

Professor Reinhardt’s presentation has been made possible by support from PhRMA, Pfizer, Yale University, and We Work for Health CT.

Dr. Reinhardt is recognized as one of the nation’s leading authorities on health care economics, Dr. Uwe E. Reinhardt is the James Madison Professor of Political Economy and Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs at Princeton University.

His most recent research has focused on hospital pricing, systems of health care around the world, Medicare reform, and health care spending. His work has appeared in Health Affairs, the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and the British Medical Journal.

He received his Ph.D. degree from Yale University.
