In his talk, “Health
Care Reform and Innovation,” Professor Reinhardt plans to
examine how health care reform will play out over the next
four years, and its impact on biopharma R&D and
innovation.

CURE Speaks Against 'Gifts' Bill
Calling it “a bill in search of a problem,” Paul Pescatello, president of CURE, spoke against Raised Bill No. 270 in testimony March 1 before the Committee on Public Health of the Connecticut General Assembly.
The bill purports to address the “problem” of gifts by biopharma companies to doctors and other health care providers – but that issue has already been successfully addressed and regulated by various other bodies, Pescatello said.

Health Network
Plans Fortify CT Bioscience Sector
Plans
were announced March 9 to establish the UConn Health
Network, a partnership with area hospitals aimed at creating
jobs and and improving access to quality health care in the
state. A key feature of the Network would be a Bioscience
Enterprise Zone, which would offer tax breaks to private
companies that create jobs and work with UConn Health Network
partners.
