A capacity crowd showed up December 8 for the CURE Holiday Party in Café George at 300 George Street, New Haven.
Greeting the guests, Paul Pescatello, president and CEO of CURE, said that over the last six
years the holiday party has become a major event on the CURE calendar. For that he thanked the generous sponsors who have made it possible to invite employees of CURE member organizations at no charge.
WinStanley Enterprises, as lead sponsor, underwrote the extensive buffet provided by Café George and arranged for convenient parking at 300 George, which is one of the WinStanley properties in New Haven.
Party goers played the DNA Game, which called for guests to seek each other out in order to match up the genetic codes on their respective name tags. Guest who found a match had their names entered in a drawing for door prizes.
Drawing the names and announcing the winners was Connecticut State Senator Gary LeBeau.
The DNA Game was sponsored this year by Lab Support, a division of On Assignment, the scientific staffing company, who provided iPod Nanos and iTunes gift certificates to a pair of winners, Julio Carmona of 454 Life Sciences and Bill Wiesler of the Yale Office of Cooperative Research.
Also sponsoring the DNA Game was its inventor, HarveyMalis Communications, who provided deluxe gift baskets to a second pair of winners, Lui Nabre of Cage Data and Leah Zilla of Acruian.
For their continuing support of the Holiday Party as well as other CURE events, Pescatello thanked CURE staff as well as PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Wiggin and Dana, and Elm Street Ventures.
He also welcomed new sponsors of this year's event: Ce3, a Branford-based CRO; Edward Cronin from the Stamford office of AON, the risk management company; and the Jackson Laboratory, which provides scientific expertise for drug discovery.
Wine was provided
by The Wine Thief and catering by Paula at Café
George.
