from China have revealed the potential for human stem cells

Connecticut
scientist Richard P. Lifton, M.D., Ph.D., chair,
Department of Genetics, Yale School of Medicine, has been
appointed to the National Institutes of Health Working Group
for Human Embryonic Stem Cell Eligibility Review. The
Working Group will consider requests for human embryonic
stem cell (hESC) lines to be approved for use in NIH-funded
research.

Shapiro, a professor at the University of Connecticut Health
Center, is investigating the role of a molecule known as
CD13 in directing therapeutic stem cells to damaged tissue. more

National Institute of Health released its final Guidelines
for Human Stem Cell Research last July. more

In April
2009, the State of Connecticut Stem Cell Research Advisory
Committee directed the allocation of $9.8 million
in stem cell research funds to investigators based in New
Haven, Middletown, Farmington and Storrs. more

and Society at Wesleyan University, and co-director of the
