Deals That Go South

How to Defend Your Firm in the Wake of an Unraveling Deal

In May 2008, Protein Sciences Corp. negotiated an acquisition agreement by Emergent BioSolutions (EBS).  Soon after, EBS failed to garner its shareholders’ support for the deal.  Unraveling of the deal led to suits and counter suits.

Hear from Daniel Adams, President and CEO of Protein Sciences, on lessons learned when a potential partner becomes an unwanted suitor.

Daniel Adams became CEO of Protein Sciences in 1995. He has previously founded and managed biopharmaceutical companies that have a combined market value of over $30 billion. He co-founded Biogen (OTC-BGEN) and served as its first President and CEO, founded and was CEO of Advanced Genetic Sciences Inc. ("AGS"), and co-founded Plant Genetic Systems in 1982 and alleRX in 1989.

Now the Company is in the news worldwide because it is in the process of manufacturing a vaccine for Swine Flu and it expects to be able to make 20,000 to 30,000 doses of vaccine/week beginning in early to mid June.

Dan holds a BA degree in Chemistry from Cornell University and a JD magna cum laude from New York University School of Law.
