| Life Sciences Drew Two Thirds of CT VC in
2006-08
Almost two thirds of
the venture capital investment in Connecticut the past three years has
been in the Life Sciences area, according to a CURE analysis of figures
in the MoneyTree™ report, supplied by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the
National Venture Capital Association, based on data provided by Thomson
Reuters.
A total of $687.1
million of venture capital was invested in Connecticut during the years
2006-08, according to the MoneyTree™ report. Of that, $450.3 million,
or almost 66%, was in the Life Sciences, which includes Biotech and
Medical Devices.
Total investment in
all Connecticut industries was down in 2008 compared with prior years,
but included investment in SurgiQuest, Carigent Therapeutics, Cara
Therapeutics, Optherion, Pequot Enzyme Rx, and Affomix.
