Nominations Due for 2009 Medal of Science

The State of Connecticut is calling for nominations for the 2009 Medal of Science. A nomination form may be downloaded here. Nominations are due April 3.

The Medal of Science is Connecticut’s highest honor for scientists and engineers. It is designed to recognize extraordinary achievements in scientific fields crucial to Connecticut’s economic competitiveness and social well-being.

Modeled after the National Medal of Science, this award is bestowed by the Governor in alternate years with the Connecticut Medal of Technology.

As directed by State Statute, selection of the annual Medalist is conducted on behalf of the Board of Governors for Higher Education by the Department of Higher Education with the assistance of the Connecticut Academy of  Science and Engineering. All Medal recipients will be permanently featured in a Hall of Fame at the new Connecticut Science Center.
