Meet a Nobel Prize Scientist April 22 in Hartford

In observance of Bring Your Child to Work Day, CURE and Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc cordially invite you to visit the new BioScience Explorations mobile laboratory and meet one of Connecticut's most distinguished scientists, Dr. Thomas Steitz, the winner of the 2009 Nobel Prize in chemistry.

On Thursday, April 22, the mobile laboratory, which is designed to bring science to elementary school children,  will be parked at the South Entrance of the Capitol Building in Hartford. It will be open for drop-in tours from 10:00 am – 11:00 am and from 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm.

At 11:00 am, CURE and Boehringer Ingelheim officials, together with science educators, business executives, government officials, and the media, will gather in front of the vehicle. Attending as Guest of Honor will be Professor Steitz of Yale, who will conduct a science experiment with children aboard the new mobile laboratory vehicle.

You are invited to watch the 11:00 am event and/or to tour the new vehicle before or after. No RSVP is required.

The Boehringer Ingelheim Science Quest Program

By focusing on elementary school students, the new Boehringer Ingelheim Science Quest program complements and expands the CURE BioScience Explorations educational outreach service, which also includes the CURE BioBus and CURE BioConnection programs.

Boehringer Ingelheim Science Quest is a program of CURE Bioscience Explorations, an educational outreach service of CURE (Connecticut United for Research Excellence), the state bioscience organization.

For 125 years Boehringer Ingelheim has been committed to improving the lives of patients and their families through the discovery and development of innovative medicines. This global pharmaceutical company, with its U.S. headquarters in Ridgefield, has a shared commitment with CURE to stimulate interest in science by bringing engaging, quality science curricula directly to students and teachers.
